The Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum Campus sits on a 38-acre site and is being redeveloped by the Aspen Music Festival and School in partnership with Aspen Country Day School. Completion is scheduled for June 2016. Cost is $70 million.
Final square footage will be 105,000. For the AMFS, the new Bucksbaum Campus will provide state-of-the-art facilities for musical training, rehearsal, and performance, as well as administrative and operational infrastructure for the institution.
The site plan blends artistic excellence with the natural world in a graceful manifestation of what is called the "Aspen Idea": the combination of mind, body, and spirit.
The plan includes:
…three acoustically tuned rehearsal halls
…a sunny new cafeteria with indoor and outdoor seating
...improved administration offices
…32 teaching studios and a new electronic media studio
…a pedestrian Campus with two new bridges and an improved circulation system
…a central gathering place and multiple small spaces for teaching, practice, or contemplation
…68 practice rooms, including ones built especially for brass with increased sound isolation
…a new percussion building adjacent to double-sized percussion practice rooms
…a dedicated music library
...a glass-enclosed pavilion for meetings, rehearsals, and chamber music
